Our History
Shirley Anne Scott, my beloved grandmother, was born on November 21, 1935, and was affectionately known as Scottie when she was growing up. She was a woman of remarkable boldness and bravery, with a vivacious and fun-loving spirit that radiated far and wide. Throughout her life, she tirelessly worked, often juggling multiple jobs to support her family, a testament to her unwavering determination. She embraced life to the fullest, understanding the unpredictability of tomorrow.
In 2022, she faced the devastating diagnosis of metastatic ovarian cancer, embarking on a relentless journey of medical appointments, procedures, chemotherapy, and surgery. Her determination to fight for her life and embrace every experience continued until May 19, 2023, when she passed away. Watching her navigate the complexities of our healthcare system while battling for her life was a heart-wrenching and eye-opening experience. It left me convinced that there had to be a better way.
Scottie stands as a tribute to my grandmother’s enduring legacy, her indomitable spirit, boundless compassion, and zest for life. It’s a practice that embodies the same boldness that defined her remarkable character, a fitting homage to an extraordinary woman.
